Background of the Study

Burn victims often experience severe pain, and managing this pain is essential to their recovery. Nurses play an important role in providing pain relief and ensuring that burn patients receive appropriate care. This study assesses the role of nurses in improving pain relief for burn victims in Kaduna State hospitals.

Statement of the Problem

Burn pain management requires both pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions. Nurses are often the primary healthcare providers for burn victims, but challenges such as inadequate pain relief protocols and resource constraints can limit their ability to provide optimal care. This study explores how nurses can improve the quality of pain relief in burn victims.

Objectives of the Study

  1. To assess the role of nurses in managing pain for burn victims in Kaduna State hospitals.

  2. To evaluate the effectiveness of the pain relief interventions used by nurses for burn patients.

  3. To identify challenges faced by nurses in providing effective pain relief for burn victims.

Research Questions

  1. What role do nurses play in managing pain for burn victims in Kaduna State hospitals?

  2. How effective are the pain relief interventions used by nurses for burn victims?

  3. What challenges do nurses face in providing adequate pain relief for burn patients?

Research Hypotheses

  1. Nurses in Kaduna State hospitals play a crucial role in providing effective pain relief for burn victims.

  2. Barriers such as inadequate resources and lack of training hinder nurses' ability to manage burn pain effectively.
